4。5 stars rounded up， because it was such a quick， fun read。 A little unbelievable at times， but I never mind that in fiction。 Most of the chapters were on the shorter side， which made it easy to read just one more - ok， maybe two more。 And I didn't figure everything out ahead of time （only a couple of things） which is always nice。 The chapters changed from the viewpoints of the husband and wife （Parker and Luna）， to Parker's mother， Nicola， and some from Luna's mom as well。 Everyone in the stor 4。5 stars rounded up， because it was such a quick， fun read。 A little unbelievable at times， but I never mind that in fiction。 Most of the chapters were on the shorter side， which made it easy to read just one more - ok， maybe two more。 And I didn't figure everything out ahead of time （only a couple of things） which is always nice。 The chapters changed from the viewpoints of the husband and wife （Parker and Luna）， to Parker's mother， Nicola， and some from Luna's mom as well。 Everyone in the story has secrets， and I was never bored as they were revealed。 And it flashes back and forth from the present to different times in the past， and that worked well to move the story along。 This is my first novel by K。L。 Slater， but I enjoyed it so much that I'm starting another of hers that I've had on my Kindle for a while。 Recommended for anyone in the mood for a fast paced， fun， popcorn thriller。 。。。more

This book definitely made me realise that I need to read more of K。L。Slater。 This thriller was captivating and made me guess constantly until towards the end。• It is told from multiple POVs and it all comes together beautifully。 I loved Nicola's character which gives a 'mama bear' vibes。 The twists and turns keep you on the edge but it was so satisfying at the end。 This book definitely made me realise that I need to read more of K。L。Slater。 This thriller was captivating and made me guess constantly until towards the end。• It is told from multiple POVs and it all comes together beautifully。 I loved Nicola's character which gives a 'mama bear' vibes。 The twists and turns keep you on the edge but it was so satisfying at the end。 。。。more

Parker and his wife Luna are going to a dinner dance out of town and staying overnight。 They're dropping their son， Barney， off at Parker's mom and dad's house。 Nicola and Cal are thrilled to babysit while Parker and Luna get away for some fun。 Nicola notices that Luna has been distant with her and Cal， but doesn't say anything。 As Parker is about to leave to join Luna in the car， he tells his mom that he has something very important to talk to her about when he gets back。 Nicola can tell that i Parker and his wife Luna are going to a dinner dance out of town and staying overnight。 They're dropping their son， Barney， off at Parker's mom and dad's house。 Nicola and Cal are thrilled to babysit while Parker and Luna get away for some fun。 Nicola notices that Luna has been distant with her and Cal， but doesn't say anything。 As Parker is about to leave to join Luna in the car， he tells his mom that he has something very important to talk to her about when he gets back。 Nicola can tell that it's something very serious and that it's weighing heavily on Parker。 She encourages him to tell her before he goes， but he says there's no time。 Off he goes。 Nicola and Cal have a wonderful day with Barney。 He loves visiting them and doesn't get to do it often。 After everyone is in bed and asleep for the night， Cal and Nicola wake up suddenly。 It's the middle of the night and there are blue lights flashing in through their bedroom window。 When Cal hears knocking on the front door， he goes down to see what's going on。 It's the police and they tell Cal that Parker and Luna have been in a serious car accident and have been rushed to the hospital。 Nicola rushes down the steps to try to get more information， but the police simply say the injuries are quite serious and tell them the hospital they were taken to。 Parker and Luna were supposed to stay overnight。 Why were they driving home in the middle of the night？ The police didn't have any more information about the cause of the accident but said more would be known following the investigation。Nicola tells Cal that she'll go to the hospital and try to see Parker and Luna。 She wants Cal to stay home with Barney to give him a feeling of normalcy when he wakes up。 It sounds like he's going to be staying for longer than one night。 When Nicola arrives， she's not allowed to go back to their rooms。 Parker has been rushed into surgery with internal bleeding and Luna has serious injuries and was given medication to help her sleep。 Nicola sits in the waiting room as the receptionist said someone will be out to talk with her after the surgery。 She texts Cal and fills him in。 When the surgeon comes out he says that Parker had serious bleeding and they were able to get it under control。 He warns Nicola that her son is in very bad shape and not to be shocked when she sees him。 He allows Nicola to visit Parker for a short time hoping it will bring her comfort。 While Nicola is visiting Parker she is shocked at the swelling， bruising， and machines monitoring him。 She holds his hand and talks to him。 Parker's eyelids begin to flutter as he seems to be waking up。 Nicola stands and bends over him。 He whispers something to Nicola。 He seems upset。 What is going on and why were they driving home？ Nothing makes sense and now Parker and Luna are bad off。 Parker has been keeping secrets from his mom as he wanted to protect her after she had a long bout with cancer and chemo。 When Nicola finds something at Parker's house that the police have been searching for in relation to a murdered woman， what does it mean？ Is Parker guilty of murder？ Is Luna involved？ How could this day be any worse？K。L。 Slater has done it again！！ Husband and Wife is an exciting read with many twists along the way！ As hard as I tried to figure out who did it， I did not figure it out！ This is a standalone thriller that will keep you on your toes！ I rate Husband and Wife 4 stars with a high recommendation。 I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for a fair review。 #HusbandAndWife 。。。more

wracking psychological thrillers I have EVER read！！！ You lady have one hell of a talent and I cannot wait to get hold of your previous and future books。 I cannot remember the last time I was so hooked by a book but you managed that big time！！！ The storyline is filled with crime， shocks， murder， secrets， twists， suspense， tension， deceit and revenge。 There was not one， two but at least 3 explosive bombshells I did not see coming！！！ There was so much going on and it was very fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout。 Im not going to go too much into the storyline as I don't want to give anything away and everything you need to know is in the incredible synopsis。 However I do want to say that I absolutely LOVE the fact that in this book we get to see the story from so many different perspectives！！！ The protagonists are Nicola Vance and her son Parker Callum Vance。 Parker's wife Luna and Luna's mum Marie。 We also get to see what is going on from the police investigating the murder of Sarah Grayson （another protagonist） DI Helena Price and DS Kane Brewster。 What is absolutely fantastic is that even though I got to see what was going on from so many points of views and what each was thinking and doing， I still had absolutely no idea who had killed Sarah or what the characters were hiding！！！ To find out more yourself then you will just have to grab your copy today to find out won't you？！ Yet again KL Slater has created an unpredictable and unputdownable， gritty， suspense and tension filled explosive page turner that will have you addicted from the first page to the last！！ Her fantastic evocative writing skills brings the storyline and characters to life in front of your eyes and will keep you glued to the pages！Clear your schedule before you start as I read this in one sitting as I could not put it down！！ Practically every chapter ended on a cliff hanger so no way could I put it down！！ Absolutely hooked！！ I would absolutely love to see this turned into a movie！！！！ It is set over multiple time lines。 When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader （if it is well done） understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions。 It also shows the bigger picture。 I was completely invested in both the storyline and the characters。 Each of the characters had their own unique personalities and I felt differently about each of them。 As always K。L Slater has managed to create several realistic， flawed， unlikeable and questionable characters that she brings to life with her creative and evocative writing skills and puts them into what should be an everyday storyline but makes the reader question everything and everyone they are seeing， reading and meeting throughout！！ As with the storyline I won't go into any details about the characters as I don't want to run the risk of giving anything away and spoiling this incredible storyline for future readers。 I will say that I did not have a clue who to trust and I never did work out who was hiding what。 What I am safe to say though is that I loved DI Helena Price and DS Kane Brewster who were the investigating officers in Sarah's murder case。 I am sure I have "met" them before in one of Kim's books but for the life of me I can't remember which one/s。 However， I just loved their characters， their team dynamics and their personalities and they are definitely characters that I would love to see again。 I don't think I've ever seen another authors book where there are so many protagonists that include such an insight from the police as well as so many different characters。 It is risky to have so many as it can cause confusion but Kim has done an amazing job and weaves all the different timelines and characters stories together perfectly not causing any confusion into whose point of view I read from or what timeline the chapters were talking about。 If you want to know more you will just have to click the link below to get a copy！！ All in all a great mix of characters that worked well with this storyline and regardless of whether you love them or hate them they all played their parts perfectly along with KL Slaters fantastic writing skills making each of them jump out of the pages coming to life in front of your eyes。 This is exactly why you are in my top author Club K。L Slater and your book is one of the best psychological thrillers I have EVER READ！！ Bring on the next one！！！ I cannot wait！！！ Here's to the next success 🥂 Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and the first three chapters of KL Slater's absolutely addictive 'The Marriage' which is another explosive page turner and one I have read myself and would highly “Husband and Wife”， a psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat。 Just when you think you have it figured out， you don’t ！ Entertaining！ A Who Done It！ Shocking revelations！What I liked most about the book was the suspense and the family unit involvement。 I felt Author K。L。 Slater did a great job with character development by letting us know where each character was psychologically early on。 I got to know the characters and could distinguish their motives for their actions， but e “Husband and Wife”， a psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat。 Just when you think you have it figured out， you don’t ！ Entertaining！ A Who Done It！ Shocking revelations！What I liked most about the book was the suspense and the family unit involvement。 I felt Author K。L。 Slater did a great job with character development by letting us know where each character was psychologically early on。 I got to know the characters and could distinguish their motives for their actions， but even some surprises there as well。My favorite character was Nicola， maybe in part because I am also a mother and a wife and hold family values at a high level。 I could connect with her passion for her son and her desperate desire to have everyone get along。 Despite her own challenges， she continued to put her son first and went with her gut on decisions。 I thought the plot was impulsive and engaging。 There was just enough “not said”， leaving the mind to play out its own theory and accusatory assumptions。 This psychological thriller made me feel a full circle of emotions from frustration， anger and disgust to love， relief and some level of justice （ which for me left me with a 4。5 rating）。 I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a psychological thriller。 Thank you @bookouture and @netgalley for this eARC for my honest review 。。。more

My thanks to Bookouture for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘Husband and Wife’ by K。L。 Slater。Having read a number of Slater’s domestic/psychological thrillers I was fairly confident that her latest would prove almost impossible to put down。 I was correct。The story moves between a few of its character’s points of view in the novel’s present as well as flashbacks to earlier events。 Nicola and Cal are a settled married couple with an adult son， Parker。 They are looking after their grandson， Barney， while My thanks to Bookouture for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘Husband and Wife’ by K。L。 Slater。Having read a number of Slater’s domestic/psychological thrillers I was fairly confident that her latest would prove almost impossible to put down。 I was correct。The story moves between a few of its character’s points of view in the novel’s present as well as flashbacks to earlier events。 Nicola and Cal are a settled married couple with an adult son， Parker。 They are looking after their grandson， Barney， while Parker and his wife， Luna， head off for a weekend away。 Before they leave Parker says to Nicola that when they return he needs to talk to her about something important。Yet before that can happen Parker and Luna are involved in a serious car accident and both are hospitalised with critical injuries。 Nicola goes to their home to gather extra clothes and toys for Barney。 While there she comes across a distinctive silk scarf - one that had been all over the news recently。 Some weeks before Sarah Grayson had worn a scarf like this on a night out。 When her body was found there was no sign of the scarf。 The police had put out an appeal seeking to locate this vital piece of evidence as they believed that she had been strangled with it。 Could her beloved son be involved？ Or Luna， who is prone to jealous rages？ Or is there an innocent explanation？ After the police question Luna and the semiconscious Parker， it isn’t long until detectives come knocking… No further details to avoid spoilers。As noted above this was a total page turner。 There were times when I was quite frustrated with Nicola’s behaviour as her instinct to protect Parker often seemed to overwhelm her common sense。 Overall， I found ‘Husband and Wife’ a gripping domestic thriller that proved very satisfying。 4。5 stars rounded up to 5。 。。。more
